Sree Matha Home Foods is not a factory recipe with a grandmother’s name on the label. Venu Kumari, Nanamma, is past eighty-five. She still knows when a mango is firm enough for avakaya and when gongura has cooked down far enough. Anuradha Uppala runs the house and the orders. The measures that can be written live with her. The correction, the extra minute, the smaller handful of chilli, still comes from Nanamma’s hand.
What we send is made after you order, in the quantities a family would cook, not in a vat for a season. That is why one jar does not taste like a shop pickle that has been the same for ten years. It tastes like the week the mango, the chilli or the fish came.
If a taste reminds you of a particular aunt’s house, tell us. We cannot become every house. We can stay this one, honestly.
